Throughout the year and especially in the tourist season, Bibinje hosts many traditional cultural and entertainment manifestations as well as sports manifestations and performances, which attract a lot of visitors. We would like to point out the following:

     The Good Friday Procession
The Good Friday Procession starts in the evening from the St. Mary's Assumption Church and moves towards the Church of St. Rok in the old village. Special about this event is how the young light small lye and kerosene torches along the path, which is used for the procession. Upon reaching the Jaz (Chasm) bay, i.e. the promenade by the sea, one can enjoy the magnificent scenery. When all the torches are lit, one gets the impression that the sea is on fire..

Festival of Folklore and Customs of the Zadar and Bibinje area
End of July or beginning of August, one organizes the traditional, this year the fourth Festival of Folklore and Customs of the Zadar and Bibinje area. On this occasion we have performances of folklore groups, mostly from our county. However, we also had guest performances of folklore groups from Slavonia (who added a specific touch to the general atmosphere). A march-past of these singing and dancing groups starts in the center of the town and progresses towards the square in the old village, where a stage is set up for them and each group has its own performance. After the common dinner, everybody walks down the old streets of the old village, again singing and dancing till late in the night. Somewhat before this Folklore Festival, Burgenland Croats from the Hungarian town of Koljnof pay a visit. For over 20 years, they have been in friendly relations with the cultural club I.G. Kovačić and on that occasion the Croats from Koljnof and the cultural club perform together in front of the Church of St. Rok.

" Raspivano Bibinje " - the Meeting of harmony-singing groups
The most important cultural manifestation, which also has the longest tradition, is definitely the Meeting of harmony-singing groups called
" Bibinje singing " (" Raspivano Bibinje "), which is held in the beginning of August. This year, the 27th meeting of harmony-singing groups will take place. Up to present, all of the most famous Dalmatian harmony-singing groups have already performed as well as the local women's harmony-singing group "Garofuli" and the men's harmony-singing group "Bibinje". The singing and dancing club called "The Joyous People of Bibinje ("Veseli Babinjci") and our folk-poet Ante Sikirić also perform on a regular basis. A common dinner takes place at the square and the song resounds throughout the old village.

      Bibinje celebration of St. Rok
Another event that has become traditional is the welcome of the Bibinje celebration of St. Rok. On August 15th, at the stroke of midnight, in the shallow of the Jaz bay, one puts out the Croatian flag, sings the national anthem and big fireworks begin. On the same evening, one of the renowned singers from the Croatian musical scene performs and everybody is invited to complimentary barbecue. On August 16th, down the streets of the old village, Fešta takes place, i.e. a procession with a statue of St. Rok at high noon. In the evening, there is a concert of a famous singer, people dance and the entrance is free.

     Fishermen's festivities and drama performance
In season, we have at least one drama performance out in the open. Also, several times, especially in July and August, one organizes several fishermen's festivities. One can smell grilled fish, hear Dalmatian music and one of our locals comes round with his donkey which is a special attraction for the visitors. At these festivities, one gives out pilchard, picarels, mackerel and homemade wine and very often one fries a big tuna fish (The fishermen from Bibinje are very recognizable at the Zadar festivity called "The Full Moon Night" ("Noć punog miseca"), where they cut and roast a big tuna fish weighing more than 200 kilograms).

Festivity "Greeting Summer" (" Pozdrav ljetu ")
At the beginning and the end of the season, a festivity called "Greeting Summer" ("Pozdrav ljetu") takes place. That is when we treat our guests to fish, wine, fritule (plain dark-flour fritters) and kroštule (crunchy deep-fried pastry) in one of our seafood restaurants, during which they can enjoy the sounds of performers from Bibinje.
